Energy Cell
The Energy Cell is an Item in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Location and Uses
Once Link completes the In-isa Shrine, the Steward Construct that previously gave him the Purah Pad will approach him.[2] It will explain that it forgot to give Link the Energy Cell earlier,[3] and will present it to him.[4][5] The Steward Construct will then direct Link to other Constructs on the far side of Pondside Cave,[6] who will instruct him on its use.
The Energy Cell is a device used to power Link's Zonai Devices. It is fueled by installed Energy Wells, and carried on Link's hip. Energy from the Energy Cell is consumed whenever a Zonai Device is activated, and they will restore automatically when the Zonai Device is deactivated or is too far away. The Energy Cell can be recharged by using Zonai Charges and Large Zonai Charges. If a Battery is present when a Zonai Device is activated, the energy from the Battery will be consumed until it is expended instead.
Trivia
- The Energy Cell may be loosely based on voltaic piles, which were an early form of battery that used stacked discs of metals to conduct an electric current.
