Overview

Tears of the Kingdom

Ultrahand is an Ancient Power that Link obtains from Rauru in Ukouh Shrine. It allows Link to stick Objects together or move them. When Ultrahand is used, Link has the option to move Objects around or rotate them either vertically or horizontally. If Link moves an Object close to another one, he can bind them together with a green viscous substance. This substance can hold shape in Water, allowing Link to create transportation such as Rafts with Logs and Fans or Sails. Bound Objects can also be split apart into their constituent parts if Link wishes to reassemble them in a different way. Link can attach a maximum of 21 Objects to one another.[3]

When multiple Zonai Devices are connected to an Object using Ultrahand, triggering one Device will activate all of the attached Devices at once. This allows Link to use Ultrahand to build a wide variety of Vehicles.

Other Appearances

Age of Imprisonment

Ultrahand is an ability that can be utilized by Rauru. He demonstrates this ability during several of his Strong Attacks, where he uses it to manipulate his Spear of Light from a distance.[4] Similarly, he uses it during his unique Sync Strikes with Mineru and the Knight Construct.[5][6] Rauru also uses Ultrahand to hold Zonai Devices when he uses them.

By completing the Quest "For the Children", Rauru unlocks Ultrahand as a Unique Skill.[7] It has an attack power of 60. He can use Ultrahand against Enemies that have thrown Objects, allowing him to take control of their projectiles and damage the Enemies instead.[2][8] This can be used as a Special Action to Counter certain Dangerous Attacks.[9] Like the rest of Rauru's Unique Skills, its cooldown time is reduced when he is at a Site of Sacred Power.[10]

Nomenclature

Ultrahand's name may be a reference to the Ultra Hand (also called ウルトラハンド in Japanese), a toy made by Nintendo in the late 1960s. The toy was invented by Gunpei Yokoi, and it was the first of his many creations that helped establish Nintendo as a successful toy and later video game company. Other examples include the Zelda (Game & Watch) and Game Boy.
