Ascend
Ascend is a recurring ability in The Legend of Zelda series.(TotKTears of the Kingdom | AoIAge of Imprisonment)[1][2]
Overview
Tears of the Kingdom
Ascend is an Ancient Power that Link can use while underneath terrain or buildings so long as the targeted surfaces of both where Link enters and exit are relatively flat, he is close enough to the surface where he enters, and nothing would obstruct him on the other side. This is indicated via the portal turning green. When Link uses the ability, he will rise upward through the material above him and appear on the other side. During this sequence, everything else will freeze. Ascend can be used to quickly gain altitude or escape from dangerous situations. Link will have an opportunity to confirm if he wishes to Ascend through an Object after seeing what is on the other side of the selected Object. However, he will automatically complete the ascent after 30 seconds.
If the view of Link becomes obstructed while he Ascends, the world around him will render as a green void, similar to being inside of a Shrine of Light. This will also happen if the area where Link will appear needs to be loaded.
Climbable Bosses, such as Stone Taluses and Marbled Gohmas, can be Ascended through. In the Depths, Ascend Access Points can be found, which will take Link to the Surface when he Ascends through them. Link can also ascend to the surface from the alcove in the Deku Tree Chasm. Link cannot Ascend anywhere else in the Depths to the Surface.
Other Appearances
Age of Imprisonment
During the Movie "Fated Adversary", which plays at the beginning of the Scenario "The Counterstrike", Rauru reveals his plan to ambush the Monsters in the Seres Scablands.[3] Agraston asks if he will be using a Zonai ability, which Rauru confirms.[4] He then directs the Six Sages to make for a Cave system nearby, so they can launch their attack from beneath the Monsters.[5] Once the Scenario starts, Rauru can be seen Ascending through the ground holding Agraston and Qia's hands. Upon exiting the ground, they are able to take a Fire Boss Bokoblin and its Black Bokoblin followers by surprise.[6]

All thanks to a Zonai power known as Ascend. I had a feeling it might prove useful for an ambush.

We'll take them by surprise, and decimate their ranks from the inside out.

Now. We make for the nearby caves, and take position beneath the enemy. If we can just reach the surface, they'll be ours. And I know the perfect shortcut to get us there.

That was a bold plan, using the caves beneath us to show up right in the middle of an enemy outpost!
