The Eldest Hinox Brother,(TotK)[1] also known as the Hinox (Oldest Kin),(BotW)[2] is a recurring Sub-Boss in The Legend of Zelda series.

Characteristics

Breath of the Wild

The Hinox (Oldest Kin) is a Black Hinox that is situated in the Rabella Wetlands on Mount Taran.[2] It is one of the Giant Brothers, with the other two being the Hinox (Youngest Kin) and Hinox (Middle Kin). An Ancient Orb has been hung around its neck. It spends most of the time asleep, but it will wake up and attack Link if it is disturbed.[3] Unlike the other Giant Brothers, the Hinox (Oldest Kin) is guarded by several Blue Bokoblins. If the Hinox has been defeated, it will be revived following a Blood Moon.

In order to find an Ancient Shrine during "The Three Giant Brothers" Shrine Quest, Link is tasked with taking the Ancient Orb from the Hinox (Oldest Kin).[4] This can be done either by defeating the Hinox or by using Stealth to steal the Orb while it is asleep. When all three Ancient Orbs are placed in the Pedestals on Mount Taran, Tawa Jinn Shrine will rise from the ground nearby.[5]

After Link has defeated Calamity Ganon for the first time, Kilton will ask him to kill all of the Hinoxes in Hyrule, which includes the Hinox (Oldest Kin). Once Link does so, Kilton rewards him with the Medal of Honor: Hinox.
