Babi is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Babi is a Gerudo Soldier who wields a Gerudo Spear, and she can be found in the Barracks of Gerudo Town. She trains some of the other soldiers.[4] When Link speaks to her, she warns him that they are on high alert and that outsiders must stay out of their way.[5] If Link speaks to Babi while Malena is asking her for help, Babi is exasperated that Link and Malena still wander into the barracks, despite her warnings.[6] She warns Link that they would be in pieces if they were not busy.[7]

After Link receives permission from Captain Teake to hear what happened from the soldiers, Babi says that she and her soldiers are busy spear training and that Link cannot interfere,[8] even with Teake's permission.[9]

If Link speaks to Babi after recovering the Thunder Helm, she proclaims that she must prevent a crime like that from happening again.[10] She believes that her diligence will inspire others.[11] Due to her strong appearance, Babi claims to feel the gazes of those weaker than her.[12]

Marta remarks that once their spears are repaired, she believes Babi will have more special training from them.[13] She also claims that Babi is working too hard, even though the heirloom has been returned, hoping to never be as intense as she is.[14] Smaude also makes similar comments, wondering if Babi thinks training without rest proves her discipline and wishing Babi could feel how tired she is.[1] She thinks Babi would train for days on end if no one stopped her.[15] In addition, Smaude tries to avoid eye contact with Babi so she does not get dragged into her training.[16]

Trivia

  • Babi is one of several characters that will hit Link back if he attacks them with a Weapon.[17] These attacks deal no damage.

Nomenclature

Many Gerudo in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are named for real-world cosmetics or beauty items. "Babi" may derive from bob cut.
