- Not to be confused with Treasure Charts and Triforce Charts.
Special Charts are items in The Wind Waker.[1] These 12 Special Charts give specific information to Link as to where to find the locations of the Great Fairies, the Big Octos, and so on. Each of the Special Charts are listed below with their description as well as where to find each one.
Chart Locations
Chart's Name | Location | Method of Obtainment | Pinpointed Content |
---|---|---|---|
Given to Link by Tingle for rescuing him from prison (found behind Lenzo's house). Shows the exact location of Tingle Island, as well as the places where Link can obtain wallet upgrades from the Great Fairies of Northern Fairy Island and Outset Island. | |||
Given to Link by Tingle via mail after the young hero rescues Aryll from the Forsaken Fortress; however, Link must pay a fee of 201 Rupees to read it. The IN-credible Chart lists the locations of all eight Triforce Charts, and, once Link has obtained and translated the Triforce Charts, the locations of the Triforce Shards will be shown as well. Once a Triforce Chart or Shard has been collected, a black cross will appear on the icon for that object. | |||
Found at the end of the Warp Jar maze inside the island it's hidden. Link requires the Hookshot to enter the maze, then will need to pick the correct jar and avoid or defeat the Floormasters. The chart allows Link to track the movements of the Ghost Ship; it shows what island the Ghost Ship is at during each phase of the moon. With this, he will be able to enter the Ghost Ship to obtain a Triforce Chart. Curiously, the man who made the map mysteriously died as soon he had finished it.[2] | |||
Obtained in a Postbox after obtaining Bombs from Niko in the pirate ship. It shows all of the Beedle's Shop Ship locations including the Masked Beedle Shop Ship. | |||
Found by finding and opening Treasure Chart #26, then using it as a guide to unveil the Special Chart from the bottom of the sea. It shows the whereabouts of the Big Octos, as well as how many eyes each one has. | |||
Found by finding and opening Treasure Chart #41, then using it as a guide to unveil the Special Chart from the bottom of the sea. It shows the whereabouts of the Great Fairies. | |||
Found by finding and opening Treasure Chart #32, then using it as a guide to unveil the Special Chart from the bottom of the sea. It shows the whereabouts of the Treasure Charts that pinpoint Pieces of Heart, and how many there are on each island. | |||
Found by finding and opening Treasure Chart #19, then using it as a guide to unveil the Special Chart from the bottom of the sea. It shows the whereabouts of the Pieces of Heart, and how many there are on each island. | |||
Found by finding and opening Treasure Chart #13, then using it as a guide to unveil the Special Chart from the bottom of the sea. It shows the whereabouts of the holes leading to underground caverns. | |||
Found by finding and opening Treasure Chart #21, then using it as a guide to unveil the Special Chart from the bottom of the sea. It shows the whereabouts of the luminous Rings of Light that appear only during nights showing the full moon. | |||
Found by defeating all the enemies on the submarine near the island. It reveals the location of all the Lookout Platforms in the Great Sea. | |||
Found in a secret cave in the Boating Course island. Link must hit three switches at the same time while avoiding, defeating or distracting the Miniblins. It reveals the locations of the Submarines floating in the surface of the Great Sea. |
Trivia
- The Island Hearts Chart erroneously indicate that there are nine Pieces of Heart in Windfall Island. In actuality, there are only eight of them. The accidentally-added piece is actually found in Greatfish Isle, as a result of concluding the Island Trading Sequence (by giving the Shop Guru Statue to the Goron Merchant). The addition of this piece in Windfall (and not in Greatfish) is probably due to the sequence actually starting there.
- When closing Tingle's Chart after viewing it, a comical honking noise is heard. This sound effect was not present in the original Japanese version and was added for the international releases.
