Miniblins are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][name references needed]

Characteristics

The Wind Waker

Tingle's Commenthide ▲
Tingle says:

A Miniblin! Don't wait around... just go!

In The Wind Waker, Miniblins tend to appear seemingly out of nowhere, only appearing wherever the third-person camera is not focused (this is seen most often in the Savage Labyrinth), and swarm the area in large numbers. They use small tridents or pitchforks as weapons, which they use to stab their opponents with. Miniblins make a characteristic "Nyeh Na!" and "Deh Dank!" sound, which can alert Link of their presence. If Link is attacked by one, it laughs at him.

Miniblins are rather weak on their own and can be easily defeated with just the Hero's Sword. What they lack in strength they make up for by surrounding Link in large groups and attacking quickly.[3] Miniblins will actively follow Link, and can also climb after him up ladders and walls. If Link finds himself facing a Miniblin swarm without his Sword, he can drop All-Purpose Bait to distract them and make his escape. They are also vulnerable to the Skull Hammer. The Skull Hammer can be used to evoke humorous cries from them; smashing the ground will send nearby Miniblins sky high, and swinging it sideways will send them flying into nearby walls. Strangely, if Link distances himself from them, Miniblins will attempt to locate the nearest supply of water and kill themselves by jumping into it.

Phantom Hourglass

Miniblins also appear in Phantom Hourglass. In this game, they come in fewer color varieties, and their characteristic vocals are replaced by a vaguely monkey-like screech. They also show slightly greater intelligence, as evidenced by their use of rudimentary strategy in battle; instead of charging head-on, a lone Miniblin will draw back and wait for its comrades to surround Link before attacking.

Spirit Tracks

ST Mounted Miniblin Model.png

Mounted Miniblins appear in Spirit Tracks, where they are first encountered during Link's second visit to the Tower of Spirits. At first, these Miniblins seem invulnerable to attacks as neither Link nor Phantom Zelda can cause damage to them, and getting too close will cause the Armos they ride atop to produce harmful spikes from its base. Mounted Miniblins can be defeated by attacking it with the Sword while standing on Phantom Zelda's shield, or they can be knocked onto the ground and rendered dizzy for a few seconds by using the Whirlwind on it from an elevated position. Once the Miniblin recovers, it will make no attempt to attack Link, and simply run back to its position on top of the Armos. When a Mounted Miniblin is defeated, the Armos it rides on will self-destruct in an explosion.

Pirate Miniblins, who look exactly like regular Miniblins in this game, inhabit the Pirate Hideout where they keep their prisoners in cells. When Link has a Passenger with him aboard the Spirit Train, Pirate Miniblins traveling by Pirate Ships or Pirate Tanks will occasionally ambush them; if these vehicles reach the Spirit Train, then Link will need to fend off a horde of Pirate Miniblins and their Big Blin leader Inside the Passenger Car as they attempt to capture the passenger and bring him to their hideout. Once Link enters the Pirate Hideout to rescue the prisoner, Pirate Miniblins will appear on the scene and try to capture Link by throwing cages at him, while he dispatches them with the Bow. Eventually, Link and the prisoner make their escape via Mine Cart, as more Pirate Miniblins attempt to chase them down in Mine Carts of their own. If Link is able to fend them off until they reach the end of the tracks, then he will need to defeat the Big Blin guarding the hideout's exit before it smashes the Mine Cart with its club.

If Link enters the Pirate Hideout while not trying to rescue a prisoner, he can spot some Pirate Miniblins dining at tables, though they are out of his reach and cannot be attacked.

Other Appearances

Hyrule Warriors Legends

In Hyrule Warriors Legends, Miniblins appear as enemy grunts as part of the Era of the Sea in the Forsaken Fortress and the Wind and Earth Temples stages. Like the other armies of Bulblins and Stalchildren, there are Miniblin Captains which are taller and more armored. For Miniblin artillery, they wield throwing axes.
