Train Whistles are Objects in Spirit Tracks.[1]

Location and Uses

Alfonzo's Train and the Spirit Train are equipped with Train Whistles in Spirit Tracks, in the form of a swaying rope on the touchscreen that can be pulled downward with the stylus.[2] The sound produced by the Train Whistle differs depending on the type of Engine equipped to the Spirit Train.

The Train Whistle can be used to scare animals such as Moinks and monsters such as Snurgles and Skulltulas off of and away from the Spirit Tracks.[3] Any Rabbits hiding behind Boulders or Barrels will reveal themselves by jumping when the Train Whistle is sounded.

Whistle Signs indicating that Royal Engineers must sound their Train Whistles are occasionally dotted alongside the Spirit Tracks. If Link is transporting a Passenger and does not heed these Signs, they will criticize Link for not performing his job properly. Pulling the Train Whistle when Beedle's Air Shop flies overhead will call it down to the ground so that Link may enter the shop.[1] Similarly, pulling and holding the Train Whistle as the Spirit Train approaches a Spacetime Gate is the only means of traveling through its Warp Point.

In the Dark Realm, Link can collect Tears of Light to imbue the Spirit Train with a glowing light. While these Tears of Light are active, Link can pull the Train Whistle to increase the Spirit Train's speed and blast through any Dark Trains on the tracks, destroying them.

Trivia

  • The Train Whistle of the Skull Engine is the only one that can produce multiple notes. By pulling the Train Whistle to different lengths, it can be played in a minor pentatonic scale.
