Overview

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

See SmashWiki's article on Challenges for more information.

There are 128 Challenges in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, presented on a menu as four rows of 32 shelves covered by opaque glass. Whenever one of their criteria is met, the player is taken to the Challenges screen following the battle or mode they are playing, and its glass cover is broken, giving up the reward inside. Possible rewards include Trophies, Stickers, CDs, Stages, Stage Builder parts, and Masterpieces.

Five of the Challenges also reward the player with a Golden Hammer, a single-use item that can break nearly any window, bypassing its Challenge. In the North American and Japanese versions of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, several of the windows are immune to the Golden Hammer. However, none of the The Legend of Zelda-related Challenges either supply or are immune to Golden Hammers.

Completing a Challenge also turns the glass cover translucent for the two Challenges to its left and right, revealing their criteria and silhouettes of their rewards. A total of six of the Challenges have The Legend of Zelda-themed rewards.

There are 105 Challenges, across three separate panels of 35, in . The second and third panels, which contain Challenges that increase in difficulty, are locked at the beginning of the game. Though the player can meet the conditions for these locked Challenges, they will only count as "completed" and give up their rewards once the panel is unlocked. The second panel is unlocked by completing all Challenges from the first panel; the third panel is unlocked by completing 25 Challenges from the second panel.

When a Challenge is completed, a screenshot representing it is shown on the upper screen. Four Challenges have The Legend of Zelda-themed rewards, while a further 15 contain The Legend of Zelda-related content in their images.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

Besides the Scenarios that make up the main story, there are Challenges in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. These Challenges yield Materials after clearing them for the first time. Pulse of the Ancients and Guardian of Remembrance add EX Vicious Monster Battles, a type of respawning Challenge where the chosen Warriors face a certain Vicious Monster. In Divine Beast Battles, one of the four Divine Beasts is piloted, instead of controlling a standard Warrior.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

There are a total of 30 Challenges in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition based on The Legend of Zelda seriesWarning: {{TLoZ|Series}} is deprecated. Both The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link respectively have 15 Challenges with objectives that follow a loose progression of their original games. Each Challenge is ranked based on four levels of difficulty, represented by increments of five stars. The easiest Challenge level is "Normal" difficulty, represented with a single star. There is no difficulty represented with two stars, as the next available difficulty rank is "Hard", which is represented by three stars instead. "Master" and "Legend" difficulties are represented by four and five stars, respectively. "Legend" difficulty Challenges typically require completing extensive portions of each game, while "Master" and easier Challenges are considerably shorter.

Challenges appear in Speedrun Mode, the World Championships mode, Survival Mode, and Party Mode. In Speedrun Mode, Challenges are divided by game and, with the exception of the first Challenge in each game's set, each Challenge is locked until a certain amount of Coins are spent to permanently unlock them. Challenges are unlocked in a linear fashion progressing to the right in the lists within Speedrun Mode, so that only by unlocking a Challenge can the Challenge to its right be unlocked. Coins are awarded for completing Challenges and meeting certain conditions while playing them.

In the World Championships mode, a limited set of Challenges are provided each week as players from around the world compete for the best time. In Survival Mode, a player competes in Challenges against the Ghost Data of seven other players in a tournament-style knockout system. A total of three Challenges are played in this mode as four players are eliminated in the first round and two are eliminated in the second round to determine the remaining two challengers who compete for a boon of 150 Coins in the Silver Division or 500 Coins in the Gold Division.

In Party Mode, anywhere from two to eight players can compete against each other concurrently with Challenge Packs or individual Challenges. Challenge Packs provide a predetermined set of three to five Challenges per Pack.
