The Gibdo (ギブド, Gibudo) are flesh-eating, undead, mummified corpses that have been around since the very first The Legend of Zelda game and have since appeared in several other games, like A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. In many games, they have unique attacks such as grabbing hold of Link, and sometimes their bandages can be burned away by fire-based attacks to reveal a ReDead or a Stalfos underneath.

Although the enemies in Twilight Princess' Arbiter's Grounds resemble Gibdos, they are actually ReDeads.

A Link to the Past

In A Link to the Past, they have quite a lot of stamina, though they can easily be destroyed with the Fire Rod.

In The Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past, Gibdos merely walk around like other monsters; doing a large amount of damage if one touched Link. They attack with more specialized tactics in some other games.

Ocarina of Time

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, these creatures appear in the Kakariko Well and the Shadow Temple. They are much more aggressive than their counterpart, the Redead — they take away 1/2 a heart per second, rather than 1/4 a heart per second. The Sun's Song is able to stun them for a few seconds or until attacked.

Majora's Mask

Among the differences between the ReDeads and Gibdos in this game is the ReDeads' habit of "mourning" other slain ReDeads, a behavior which Gibdos do not exhibit. In Majora's Mask, Gibdos are normally hostile, but they will become neutral towards Link if he wears the Gibdo Mask. If Link hits them with a Fire Arrow, it will burn off their bandages to reveal a ReDead. Both ReDeads and Gibdos are also unable to harm Link's Goron or Deku Scrub forms in Majora's Mask, as the former is too large and the latter is too small (though both forms are still vulnerable to paralysis). Gibdos are also found in Beneath the Well where they request Link to bring them certain items in order to earn passage into other chambers of the well.

Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages

In both Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, Gibdo can be burned using ember seeds which will cause them to turn into ordinary Stalfos. Gibdos are also one of the few enemies that will not be pushed away when Link strikes them with his sword. Instead, they keep moving forward, making it seem as if the sword did nothing against them.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, the Gibdo attacked in a similar manner to its Ocarina of Time counterpart, except that it couldn't freeze Link or be frozen. Link could reduce their threat level by torching them with the Flame Lantern, which will turn them into Stalfos. The Gibdo can hurt Link much more than some other enemies by grasping Link and suffocating him inside the mummified wrappings of his arms.
