The Lost Woods in Ocarina of Time

The Lost Woods is a place from The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

This sweet, but haunting forest featured predominently in The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time; and was given many lesser roles in other games. It is a mysterious forest, and few dare to enter. It has a strange spell that turns any non Kokiri child into a grotesque Skull Kid, which hates humans. In A Link To The Past, it holds the notorious Master Sword and is the environment in which bunny rabbits and squirrels and all sorts of nature roams around. In Ocarina of Time, by following the sweet music of "Saria's Song", Link could navigate through the hollow trees and get to the Sacred Forest Meadow. It is home to Moblins, as well as many a Deku Scrub. Also, in Oracle of Seasons, the Lost Woods was revealed to have a branch in Holodrum, connecting to the Tarm Ruins.

Generic Inhabitants

Obviously, the enemies and other creatures within the Lost Woods variates depending on the game. But the Woods contains generic organisms known for a fact as being prime inhabitants. They include:

Similar Forests

In Twilight Princess, the Lost Woods are generally presumed to be part of the Sacred Grove, where a Skull Kid guides Wolf Link through the woods. Also, the Forbidden Woods are generally presumed to be the future of the more evil parts of the Lost Woods. Many other games had similar forests--however, they are known to be separate. These include:

Areas

Being an ancient and eerie, the Lost Woods has many hidden havens and sanctuaries, known to only a few. A few such areas are home to undead monsters, such as Bubbles and Poes. Others are safe homes devoid of evil. The regions of the Lost Woods (though they may variate between games) include:

Connections

Ever since Majora's Mask, the Lost Woods have been shown as having connections to other countries. The depths of the Lost Woods holds the portal to the dark realm of Termina. Additionally, the woods are also connected to Holodrum. The forest's dark world version is known as the Skull Woods. There are portals near Kokiri Forest that may take a person to Goron City or near Zora's Domain.

Miscellaneous

The Lost Woods is one of the established regions of Hyrule; though Hyrule greatly defers from game to game, the Lost Woods is almost always included. Also, most games, starting with Ocarina of Time, that feature the Lost Woods have the forest's background music as being Saria's Song.
