Blue-Maned Lynels are a stronger variation of regular Lynels that have inhabited Hyrule since ancient times. They carry the "Mighty" set of Lynel Gear, which includes the Mighty Lynel Sword, Mighty Lynel Shield, Mighty Lynel Bow, Mighty Lynel Spear, and Mighty Lynel Crusher.[5] In Master Mode, they carry the regular Lynel Gear set. Though facing them is dangerous, it is recommended to be prepared if one must fight them.[5]

Like other Lynels, Blue-Maned Lynels will often refrain from attacking for a short period of time after spotting Link, instead opting to stare down its opponent. Though they commonly wield Shock Arrows, certain Blue-Maned Lynels may carry Ice Arrows or Fire Arrows.

Though most Lynels will Progress past Blue-Maned Lynels as the World Level increases, the Blue-Maned Lynel in the First Gatehouse of Hyrule Castle will always remain as such.
