Hint Movie

Hint Movies are a mechanic in Majora's Mask 3D.^[1]

Overview

Hint Movies are short video clips watchable from within the Sheikah Stone inside the Clock Tower in South Clock Town. They depict what is necessary for Link to do to continue Majora's Mask 3D's main story, including all the game's Dungeons and the gameplay sections leading up to them. Hint Movies are divided into ten distinct categories, which slowly are unlocked as the game progresses. They are displayed in the Visions menu, with any uncompleted Hint Movies being placed at the top of their category's list.

When a Hint Movie is viewed for the first time, a green checkmark is added to the corner of its entry. When the objective depicted in the Movie is met, green text reading "Clear!" is further added to the entry.^[2] Once all Hint Movies in a category are cleared, a golden medal is added to the category icon.

While Hint Movies cover the game's main story, Hint Photos are another type of Visions that reveal the location of some of the game's Pieces of Heart and all of the game's Stray Fairies.

Unlike with Visions in Ocarina of Time 3D and Skyward Sword, it is possible to have all Hint Movies and Hint Photos marked as "clear", because the game saves the progress made following the final battle with Majora's Mask.
