Molo is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Molo is Hylian who is a regular at the Woodland Stable. During the day while the Weather is clear, he sits out at the Stable's patio drinking from a mug. When it Rains, he will instead sit at the table inside. At night, he sleeps in one of the Beds inside the Stable.[3] If Link wakes him up, Molo asks who he is and why he would disturb him at such a time.[4]

When Link speaks with Molo, he complains that he is unsure of what to do.[5] If Link ends their conversation, Molo thanks him for nothing.[6] Alternatively, if Link asks what his issue is, Molo explains that the only way to move forward in life is to be rich and admired.[7] Molo believes that the only way to achieve this is to steal the abandoned treasure and Weapons inside Hyrule Castle, though he does acknowledge how dangerous this would be.[8]

If Link encourages Molo to enter Hyrule Castle, he will be inspired to do so.[9] However, if Link tells him not to try, Molo states that he is unable to let a rumor of this magnitude go to waste.[10] Molo has heard that one can enter Hyrule Castle through the Docks[11] He is also interested in the Ancient Shrine that is supposedly nearby, referring to Saas Ko'sah Shrine.[12]

Of the people Molo knows who have gone to Hyrule Castle, none have returned, which he believes is due to them being too busy now that they are rich.[13] Once he has formulated his plan to enter the Castle, he thinks he will be able to live a comfortable life.[14]

Tears of the Kingdom

Once again, Molo can be found outside of Woodland Stable, where he sits by the Cooking Pot.

When Link approaches Molo, he will disappointed by the cooling of Eldin Canyon ever since Death Mountain stopped erupting.[15] If Link asks about this, Molo complains that the cooled Lava created the New Road, which is easier to traverse than the Mountain Road.[16] He is more interested in the Mountain Road that is supposedly full of Monsters, but he claims he is not strong enough for such a journey.[17][18]

While Kilton and Koltin are still at Woodland Stable, Molo expresses an interest in using Koltin's Stall to travel to Death Mountain.[19] He thinks that the balloon could be the solution to his dilemma about which road to take.[20] If Link ends their conversation, Molo wonders who owns the balloon.[21]

  15. "The lava around here has completely cooled, so the Woodland Stable route lacks the fiery passion I crave." — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  16. "[Red hot?] What's that? Did the fiery passion of my monologue catch your ear? Well, red hot is as red hot does, my friend. So a while back, Death Mountain was super active—we're talking full-force, non-stop, red-hot lava. But now the lava's all cooled down and hardened. It's even—ugh, I hate to say it—made a new road that's easy to walk! And ease, my friend, is the opposite of the "red hot" lifestyle." — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  17. "Now the route going up Death Mountain from Foothill Stable to the east, on the other hand... That's an old, dangerous road absolutely crawling with monsters. That's what I call RED HOT! But, uh...my muscles aren't exactly ready to take the heat right now, so that makes my decision more complicated." — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  18. "The lava around here has completely cooled, so the Woodland Stable route lacks the fiery passion I crave. Maybe I should take the monster-laden Foothill Stable route to the east, just to give my journey a little more spice. I'm, uh...just not sure my muscles are quite ready to feel the burn." — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  19. "How's a guy supposed to pick a path to Death Mountain? A trek up a mountain should be a red-hot adventure. If I had a balloon like to one on the other side of the pond, that'd spice things up a bit. Fat chance of that though." — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  20. "But if I had a balloon like the one across the pond, that might be my red-hot remedy to this dilemma!" — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
  21. "[I'll leave you to it.] But the real question right now is who does that snazzy balloon belong to?" — Molo (Tears of the Kingdom)
