Template:Character

Ricky is one of three animal companions that Link can get in Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons (the other two are Moosh and Dimitri). He is a boxing kangaroo, and can jump up cliffs and over single holes. He is able to unleash a Tornado Punch. Unlike Moosh and Dimitri, Ricky carries Link in his pouch. Link can use Ricky's Flute to call him.

Depending on which animal helper Link befriends, the landscaping of some areas in either Holodrum or Labrynna will change. If Link had Ricky join him, then some areas within these regions may resemble a prairie-like landscape with the occasional cliffs and a couple of holes that Ricky can jump over.

Ricky lives in a small yard just north of Horon Village and east of Spool Swamp, which he claims is his backyard.[1] Ricky had faced Blaino in a boxing contest but had lost, and Blaino had took his boxing gloves. The game then requires that Link goes to Blaino's house and for a total of 10 rupees, face Blaino in a boxing match and defeat him to win back Ricky's gloves. When Link gives these gloves back to Ricky, he will thank Link and offer him to transport him to once unaccessible areas of northern Holodrum, where Link may meet another pontential animal helper depending on which Strange Flute he had prior to helping Ricky.

However if Link had neither of the other Strange Flutes, then Ricky will decide to join Link and give him his flute.

If Link decides to take Ricky into Sunken City, Ricky will remark that the flooded city smells like medicine, which he doesn't like,[2] and will leave Link. He seems to use this as an excuse not to go into the city for Ricky cannot swim. Ricky can be taken into Horon Village however.

In Oracle of Ages, Ricky first appears shortly after Link completes the Wing Dungeon and prepares to sail for Crescent Island. After Rafton in the past tells Link that he needs a Sea Chart before going into the sea, Ralph shortly appears and hints that there could be a sea chart in present day. The sea chart is being held by Tingle, but is inaccessible because of high cliffs and pits. Eventually Link meets Ricky who says that he had lost his boxing gloves. The gloves are south of Lynna City near a tree in the beach area. Link must use the shovel to unearth the gloves. By giving back the gloves to Ricky, Ricky will then help Link reach Tingle, leaving after this.

When Link tries to later venture into Symmetry City and goes back, Link will encounter the Fairies from Fairies' Woods, who ask Link to help an animal who got lost in their woods. The animal will either be Ricky, Moosh or Dimitri depending on certain requirements. Ricky would be one of the animals lost if Link wins a Strange Flute in the Shooting Gallery mini-game in past Lynna City. If Ricky is found, he will decide to join Link and the Strange Flute becomes Ricky's Flute.

In the Manga

Ricky is encountered in the Template:Manga very much like he is in the game, but rather than getting his gloves back and then looking for him, Link arrives at the moment of his defeat. After getting back Ricky's Gloves, Ricky becomes an inseparable companion from Link, playing a large role in the eventual defeat of Onox (Dark Dragon).
