Shrouded Stalfos are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1] They are Stalfos that wear robes. They have a significantly different fighting strategy compared to other Stalfos, as they throw spears or shoot Arrows.

Shrouded Stalfos who wield Swords are called Sword Stalfos.[2] This variant charges at Link with their swords instead.

Characteristics

Link's Awakening

In Link's Awakening, Shrouded Stalfos behave differently compared to ordinary Stalfos. They are much slower, and do not jump from Link's attacks. Instead, the moment they spot him, they will either throw a spear or shoot an Arrow at him. Sword Stalfos are a stronger variant that wields a Sword and carries a Shield. They will charge at Link when they notice him, similarly to the Sword Soldiers of A Link to the Past. Their swords are able to parry Link's Sword, thus requiring that Link strike them from behind where they are vulnerable.

In Link's Awakening DX, they are depicted with blue robes. Like normal Stalfos, they are common to many of Koholint Island's dungeons.

Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, Shrouded Stalfos and Sword Stalfos appear identical as in Link's Awakening. They, however, wear green robes and the Sword Stalfos no longer carry a shield with them. They are common in several dungeons in both Holodrum and Labrynna of Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, respectively.

Trivia

  • Shrouded Stalfos and Sword Stalfos share an identical attack pattern to the Moblins in those games, which both come in a spear-throwing and sword-wielding variety. Darknuts also share the same attack pattern, but are significantly stronger.
