Magic Beans

Magic Beans are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.(OoTOcarina of Time | MMMajora's Mask | HWLHyrule Warriors Legends)[1][2][3][name references needed] They can be planted in soft soil,[4][5] where they will eventually grow into a Magic Plant that can transport Link to otherwise unreachable places.[6]

Place Magic Beans at certain locations and they eventually sprout. Z Targeting comes in handy when trying to decide where to plant a Magic Bean.

In Ocarina of Time, Magic Beans can be purchased from the Bean Seller sitting near the Zora's River.[7] The price of the beans starts at 10 Rupees and increases by 10 each time Link buys one, for a total of 550 Rupees.

Soft soil only appears during the child era, so Link can only plant a Magic Bean as a child. After seven years, the bean will grow into a Magic Plant that grants Link access to certain areas otherwise impossible to reach.[8] Some of these areas, however, can be accessed by summoning Pierre using the "Scarecrow's Song."

Young Link can play the Song of Storms near a bean seedling, which will make it grow and release a bunch of Fairies before going back to normal.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, Link can hold a maximum of 20 Magic Beans.

Link cannot purchase Magic Beans until he has learned how to use them from the Bean Seller. The Bean Seller is located inside a hole at the end of the east side of the Deku Palace garden (in Majora's Mask 3D, this hole has a second entrance, from the outside of the palace on the east side). Upon teaching Link to use Magic Beans, he will give Link one as a free sample. After teaching how to use them, he will sell Magic Beans for 10 Rupees each.

The Deku-friendly Business Scrub (who is initially located in the Southern Swamp next to the Swamp Tourist Center, but will move to South Clock Town if Link gives him the Town Title Deed) sells Magic Beans exclusively to Deku Scrubs for 10 Rupees each. In Majora's Mask 3D, the Trading Post sells Magic Beans for 100 Rupees each.

The beans will fully grow into Magic Plants when they are watered with Spring Water or the rain from the Song of Storms.[9] Magic Beans grow instantly when planted in a rainy area on the Second Day.[10]

Soft soil appears in various locations in Termina. Growing Magic Beans usually takes Link to areas with a Piece of Heart. Planting a Magic Bean in the Deku Palace, however, is necessary to progress through the game.

In Hyrule Warriors Legends, Magic Beans appear as one of the Plant Foods, used in the My Fairy Dining Room to level up Companion Fairies. It is associated with the Element of Water.
