Kula is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Kula is a Korok that resides in the Korok Forest. He can be found wandering around in front of Great Deku Tree.

Upon approaching Kula, he will recognize Link as the hero and welcome him to Korok Forest, noting that he is much cooler than he thought he would be.[4] To ensure that Link is prepared to be the hero, Kula reveals that he has prepared a trial for him.[5] He then asks Link if he wants to accept his trial.[6]

If Link agrees to attempt the trial, Kula will cheer and ask to be shown a rod with the power of Ice.[7] He explains that these rods can be used to freeze monsters and are known to be carried by Ice Wizzrobes.[8] Kula believes that if Link were to wield one of them, he would become both stronger and cooler.[9] When he finishes speaking, the "A Freezing Rod" Side Quest will begin.

Once Link is in possession of an Ice Rod, he can return to Korok Forest to show it to Kula.[10] If Link does not have it equipped, Kula instructs him to do so.[11] When Kula sees the Ice Rod, he will be impressed by it.[12] As thanks, he gives Link a Silver Rupee.[13] Kula will also accept seeing a Blizzard Rod, for which he will give Link a Gold Rupee.[14] After this, the Side Quest will be completed.

After Link has obtained the Master Sword, Kula will be excited.[15] He advises Link that if the Master Sword is unable to be used, then he could use a rod instead.[16] He says there are more types of rods than Ice Rods, such as Fire Rods, Meteor Rods, Lightning Rods, and Thunderstorm Rods.[17]

If Link speaks to Kula with the Master Sword equipped, Kula will ask to see it.[18] Should Link agree to his demands, Kula will become excited and shout.[19] After seeing it, Kula remarks that it is cool, and he thanks Link for letting him see it.[20] While he is happy to have seen the Master Sword, he tells Link to leave and save Zelda with it.[21] If Link refuses to show Kula the Master Sword, he will be disappointed.[22]
