Biography
Breath of the Wild
Tera is a Great Fairy who can be found within her Fountain in the Gerudo Desert. She is the oldest of the four fairy sisters in Breath of the Wild.[5] Like the other Great Fairies, Tera will upgrade Link's Armor in exchange for Materials.[10]
When Link first visits Tera's Great Fairy Fountain, it will be closed, and he will hear Tera asking him to listen to her story.[11] If Link agrees, Tera introduces herself, explaining that her Great Fairy Fountain was once a spring, but it has dried up now that travelers no longer offer Rupees to her.[1] To restore her power, Tera requests that Link make an offering.[12] Depending on how many of Tera's sisters Link has already helped, she will ask for either 100 Rupees,[13] 500 Rupees,[14] 1,000 Rupees,[15] or 10,000 Rupees.[16] In return, she promises to use her power to help Link.[17]
Sticking her hand out of her Fountain, Tera then demands the Rupees from Link.[18] Once Link pays her, Tera will thank him for his kindness.[19] The Great Fairy Fountain will then bloom as Tera's power is returned to her.[20] She will then emerge from the Water.[21] Clearing her throat, Tera introduces herself to Link as the eldest of the Great Fairies, admitting that she has witnessed his adventures from her Fountain.[5]
To prove that she can see all, Tera predicts that Link wants her to enhance his Armor.[22] She then asks to see the Armor that Link wants enhanced, revealing that she will need the proper Materials in order to do so.[10] The degree to which Tera can enhance pieces of Armor depends on how many of her sisters have had their power restored.[23][24][25][26]
If Link chooses to have Tera enhance his Armor, she will ask him to choose a piece from his Inventory.[27] Following Tera's first enhancement, she informs Link that certain Armor Sets will receive a Set Bonus if they have been enhanced twice.[28]
Following their first meeting, Tera will loudly greet Link whenever he visits her Great Fairy Fountain.[29][30][31] On occasion, she will use a Gerudo greeting.[32] Afterwards, Tera coughs, claiming it is due to swallowing Water or that she set a deep-diving record.[33][34][35] When Link ends his conversation with Tera, she states that she is returning to her home,[36] at which point she dives back into her Great Fairy Fountain.[37][38][39]
