Hey, this is Chris & this is my user page. I've been playing video games since 1982 when I came across arcade cabinets (like the Pac-Man cocktail cabinet) as a very young kid. I discovered the Zelda series & was mesmerized by it back in 1989, when I borrowed a friend's copy of The Adventure of Link and instantly loved the game. After returning it to him a couple days later, the same friend let me borrow The Legend of Zelda and though I liked it, I didn't like it as much as Zelda II. Later on in the summer of 1989, my mother bought my brother & me our own copy of Zelda II and I finally owned the very first Zelda game I ever played. Within a year after the both of us had already beaten Zelda II, my mother also got us a copy of The Legend of Zelda on the NES.

Many years later in 1995, my brother got a Super Nintendo after I had returned the one I had 2 years before and bundled with his SNES was A Link to the Past. I had played the game a few years before in a Macy's once before where I only played the beginning part where it's raining, but I never knew how great the game was, nor that it would become my favorite game in the series. But once I started playing my brother's copy, I was just obsessed with the game and figuring out all its puzzles. I was in awe when I saw that there was a whole 2nd world to explore (the Dark World) & its main theme instantly became my favorite theme in The Legend of Zelda series.

The following year in 1996 I happened to browse through the games section of a local Toys 'R Us and saw that they were selling new copies of Link's Awakening for $12.98 and I refused to leave the store without a copy in my hands. I brought that game with me for our family's trip that year on my Game Boy and it turned out to be an amazing trip not only thanks to where we went & what we saw but also thanks to the amazing game I played as we drove on highways to our destinations and in the hotel/motel rooms. Link's Awakening quickly became my favorite handheld game and to this day retains that status. The main quest, sidequests, pacing, music, characters, mini-games, and story were all amazing and some of the most memorable among the series.

A few years later in 1999, I bought Link's Awakening DX after reading that it had an extra dungeon that was not in the original version of the game. Though I love the job Nintendo did, I still prefer the original because of the excessive use of owl statues (replacing the stone slabs in dungeons with them), additional clues that I felt dumbed down the game, and the inability to skip test/dialogue in the color remake.

March 2002 marked the last time in a long time I would buy a Zelda title as one day that month I purchased both Oracle of Ages & Oracle of Ages from a local Target. By that time, I was pretty busy looking for work and my video game backlog had been growing. I still haven't gotten to either game as of July 2014, but I will be making time for them soon. The Sega CDX that I purchased in 1995 and the Game Boy Color that I bought back in 1999 were the last 2 consoles I would get until 2010 as I took a long hiatus from modern day gaming.

In 2009 after watching Angry Video Game Nerd episodes for the past 3 years and ScrewAttack videos and specifically the AVGN's Zelda Timeline video, I had gained enough interest to return to modern day gaming and find out what I had been missing all those years. Before that happened though, I tried out Ocarina of Time and played through it for the first time around September 2009. I enjoyed the game through my first playthrough but my interest in the game after subsequent playthroughs waned greatly.

Sometime in 2010 I decided to give Majora's Mask a try and the funny thing is that I initially hated the game due to its 3 day timeline where I kept losing all my items, plus the emulator I played the game on (since I never had a Nintendo 64) kept crashing. It's funny because a few years later after befriending someone who loved the game & hearing what he said about the game's mysterious tone, I decided to give the game another try and quickly loved it as it became my favorite 3D Zelda and continues to hold that rank.

Later on in the summer of 2010 I bought a DS Lite along with a copy of A Link to the Past for the Game Boy Advance because I found out about an extra dungeon added to the game along with the brand new Four Swords. Unfortunately I found out after purchasing the game that multiplayer was required to even play Four Swords and without beating let alone even being able to play Four Swords, I was unable to experience the extra dungeon in that version of A Link to the Past.

Also in 2010 I bought Phantom Hourglass and later on Spirit Tracks for the DS, but these too have remained as part of my backlog as I have yet to play either of them.

The following year in 2011 I purchased copies of Twilight Princess in June and got a copy of Skyward Sword about a week after its release the day before Thanksgiving with the purchase of my Wii during Target's sale. I played Twilight Princess for the first time in September 2012 and lost my interest initially. After nearly a year in August 2013, I decided to start a new file & go back to it and I finally beat the game and almost completed it 100%. I still have to find about 3 Poes and catch the Hylian Loach in the Fishing Hole on that file. I just started playing Skyward Sword in July 2014 and so far it is my least favorite game in the series.

2013 marked the year I purchased my first ever copy of Ocarina of Time, being Ocarina of Time 3D which has also remained as part of my backlog. Then in November of the same year for the very first time I purchased a game on its release day (actually it was on the midnight of its release since the release coincided with the Xbox One which had a midnight launch). That game was A Link Between Worlds and was a game whose type I had been waiting years for. I played it the same day & took my time with it, not wanting to end my first playthrough too soon. I completed the game in Normal Mode by January 2014 and soon after started Hero Mode and completed that too. I continue playing it still and found secrets I hadn't found in my first 2-3 playthroughs, such as 3 hidden rooms in the Dark Palace that don't appear on the map.

In 2014 I decided to get some of the Zelda games I missed during my hiatus and downloaded the free copy of Four Swords Anniversary Edition that was offered on the 3DS eShop and bought copies of The Minish Cap and Four Swords Adventures.

My top 5 Zelda games are A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, The Adventure of Link, Majora's Mask, and A Link Between Worlds.
