Template:Ability Focus Spirit is a special ability that playable Warriors in Hyrule Warriors may use. It temporarily increases the strength, speed and defense of characters that use it.[1]

Overview

File:HW Magic Gauge.png

Focus Spirit uses Magic Power, which may be filled by collecting Magic Jars from defeating enemies, breaking jars or cutting grass.[2] Once the Focus Spirit gauge is filled, a character may enter Focus Spirit by pressing the R button. When Focus Spirit is activated, the character's stats will be boosted for a short time, and they will not be knocked back when hit by a strong attack. Activating Focus Spirit will also surround the character in a colored glow that matches the Element of their weapon type. Once the gauge is drained of its Magic Power, the character performs an explosion of energy with a unique animation onto their surrounding enemies.

If a character performs a Special Attack while under the effects of Focus Spirit, a Focus Spirit Attack is performed. These attacks are similar to Special Attacks, but are larger, more destructive, and with the added property of being able to knock enemies down and reveal their Weak Point.[3]

In the Majora's Mask DLC Pack, when pressing the combo button, Young Link can transfer all the earned Special Attack gauge into his magic meter by playing on his ocarina, depending on full the special attack gauge is. Normally, 3 full bars of Special attack can fill up the Magic gauge completely.

Bonuses

During Focus Spirit, the warrior can preserve energy by defeating a goal number of enemies, each goal gives the warrior an extra portion of energy to use to stay in focus spirit to defeat more as well as a power boost of goods gained by enemies. Once the last bonus has appeared, the warrior must farm up more Magic Jars to last a little longer before it depletes completely.

More Rupees 20 - 25 150
More EXP 40 - 50 250
More Hearts 60 - 75 375
More Rare Materials 80 - 100 500
More High-Rank Weapons 120 - 130 650

If Link's Focus Spirit gauge is allowed to run dry on its own (without unleashing the Focus Spirit Attack), Link will thrust his Sword upward and release his remaining Magic as the center of an explosion of Light with a massive radius and mid-level attack damage, perfect for eliminating a whole crowd of enemies at once.
