Kotta is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Kotta is a Gerudo Soldier who can be found in the Barracks in Gerudo Town. She carries a Gerudo Spear.

The first time Link speaks to Kotta, she expresses disbelief that the Thunder Helm was stolen.[3] Before she can continue, she is interrupted by Liana, who yells at her for speaking of their problems to outsiders.[4] Upset that she is in trouble again, Kotta blames Link.[5]

After Link has started the "Divine Beast Vah Naboris" Main Quest, Kotta is afraid she will have to go searching on a Sand Seal again, as she gets sick while riding them.[6] If Link approaches Liana, he will hear her asking Leena and Kotta if they have seen Barta.[7] Leena reveals that Barta told them two days ago that she was going to investigate the Yiga Clan Hideout, and she has not returned since then.[8] Liana is afraid that Teake will make them run 100 laps around the Gerudo Desert once she hears that they lost Barta.[9] Kotta asks what they should do about this,[10] to which Liana snaps that she is thinking about it.[11]

Once Divine Beast Vah Naboris has been calmed, Link can return to the Barracks to find that Kotta is anxious about Barta being in trouble again.[12] When he approaches Liana, she will be shocked to hear that Barta has yet again failed to return to Gerudo Town.[13] Kotta explains that she went to investigate the Gerudo Great Skeleton in the southwest of the Gerudo Desert.[14] Leena reminds Liana that a Molduga lives in that area, so she did not think Barta would even approach.[15] Kotta agrees, adding on that the Heat in that part of the Desert would make it difficult for Barta to last with their gear.[16] This only angers Liana further, as she believes they let Barta walk into a dangerous situation.[17] She resigns herself to the fact that Barta, Leena, and Kotta are never going to change.[18] Afterwards, "The Search for Barta" Side Quest will begin.

When Link speaks to Kotta while the Side Quest is active, she shares a rumor about a fairy living in the Gerudo Great Skeleton.[19] She thought Barta would be interested in this, but since a Molduga lives in the area, she never thought she would actually investigate it alone.[20]

Once Barta has returned to the Barracks, Kotta notes that she seems to feel guilty about the mess she caused.[21] However, she is jealous that someone who is all over the place like Barta is still popular with men.[22]
