The Red Shield is an enhanced version of the Fighter's Shield. It is capable of absorbing small Fireballs.

Link can buy the Red Shield at the Shield Shop for 500 Rupees (70 in A Link to the Past & Four Swords). Alternatively, the Red Shield can be acquired for free by throwing the Fighter's Shield into the Mysterious Pond of the Waterfall of Wishing. By answering the Great Fairy's question honestly, she will reward him with this upgraded Shield.[2]
