Barnes Bomb Shop is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1]

Features and Overview

Twilight Princess

Barnes Bomb Shop is located in Kakariko Village, and is owned by Barnes. When the Eldin Province is covered in Twilight, Link enters Barnes Bomb Shop by crashing through a window as Wolf Link, and finds a Shadow Insect behind a shelf on the upper level. Exiting from a door to the Shop's roof allows him to climb the cliffside of Kakariko Village, where a storehouse for Barnes's explosives can be found.

Once light has returned to the province, Barnes cannot sell Link any Bombs at first, because his storehouse was destroyed during Wolf Link's hunt for the Tears of Light,[2] and his suppliers, the Gorons, have broken off relations with the Village.[3][4] Link must earn the trust of the Gorons before they will begin supplying Barnes with the materials he needs to make them.[5]

Initially, Barnes only sells regular Bombs, and informs Link that they can be used to create Bomb Arrows.[6] Later on, when light is restored to Lanayru Province and Prince Ralis has been safely delivered to Kakariko, he will then sell Water Bombs,[7] and eventually, after Link retrieves the Master Sword, he will sell Bomblings as well.[8] The Shop also has a secondary counter where Barnes will buy back Bombs from any of the Bomb Bags Link has, for a deflated price.[9][10] However, if Link wishes to sell his Bombs, he must sell all of the Bombs in the selected Bomb Bag. This is sometimes necessary, as Link can only store one type of Bomb in each Bomb Bag. Barnes also offers Link his first Bomb Bag filled with Bombs as a "premium kit" for 120 Rupees.[11]

Around the store are many warning signs that say not to use any flammable objects in the store.[12] If Link uses his Lantern, Barnes will slam his fist on the counter in front of him, causing a stream of water to fall directly on top of Link. If Link pulls out his Lantern in front of Barnes, the proprietor will reprimand him.[13]
