Thadd is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Thadd is a cautious villager who guards Hateno Village's gate. Upon seeing Link, he will brandish his Farmer's Pitchfork and warily ask who he is.[4][5] Realizing that Link is a Hylian, he will apologize and give him directions to Hateno Village's General Store and Inn.[6]
If he is spoken to again, Thadd can answer a couple of questions. He will give a description of Hateno Village as a whole, though he is unable to give specifics.[7] Thadd points out that the village is highly responsive to tourism.[8] However, he advises Link against visiting the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab on the hill overlooking the village.[9]
Although Link can ask Thadd to show him the village, he will turn the hero down at once. [10] He will apologize afterward for his behavior,[11] stating that although his work is important, it is not difficult.[12] Still, he will adamantly refuse to use his time giving Link a tour,[13] directing him to Seldon instead.[14]
As night rolls in, Thadd continues to guard despite his sleepiness.[15][16] He is at the village entrance no matter the hour, never sleeping.
Tears of the Kingdom
Thadd guards the Second Floor of Lookout Landing. He carries a Farming Hoe. Despite being very worried about the safety of his family,[1] he left Hateno Village to help out in the search for Zelda.[17]
When Link first arrives at Lookout Landing, he will remark how Lookout Landing is not as quiet as it usually is.[18] If Link approaches Thadd, he recognizes him.[19] He then tells Link not to waste his time chatting, directing him to meet with Purah.[20][21] After Link has spoken to Purah, Thadd can be found looking out from the Second Floor. He comments on how unusual Link is to be on the Second Floor and introduces himself.[22] He explains the he is originally from Hateno Village, and he has been worried about his wife Tamana and son Teebo.[23] When he looks at the Ring Ruins, he thinks about how Hateno Village is located beyond them, which makes him even more concerned for his family.[1][24] When spoken to again, he explains that he came to Lookout Landing to help search for Zelda.[17]
