The Blue Snake is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3] The Blue Snake appears alongside the Red Snake at Vasu Jewelers.

Purpose

Transferring Rings

Same as the Red Snake, the Blue Snake's main purpose is to allow Link to transfer all his appraised Magic Rings between linked Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons game files. With the Blue Snake, this is done with the use of two Game Boy Colors (not Game Boy Advances) and a Game Link Cable. With both games inserted in either Game Boy Color, the Blue Snake must be spoken to in one of the games, while the other remains at the starting screen. If done correctly, when "Link" is selected upon speaking to the Blue Snake, all the rings will transfer to the opposing game.[4]

The link will not work if the two games inserted into the Game Boy Color are the same game (two Ages or two Seasons), or if the two games are not linked.[5]

If a Game Link Cable is not available, the Blue Snake cannot be used to transfer rings. The Red Snake can then be used instead as an alternative.

Telling Ring Fortunes

Besides transferring rings, the Blue Snake has a second particular purpose that the Red Snake does not have: giving "Ring Fortunes".[6] By connecting any two game files of Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons with a Game Link Cable, then simultaneously speaking to the Blue Snake in both games, the snake will award both players a "Ring Fortune", which comes in the form of a non-appraised ring.[7] The rings that are obtained from Ring Fortunes are usually fairly common. Ring Fortunes are not required to obtain a specific Magic Ring.
