Decayed Guardians are ruined variations of the Guardian Stalker that were destroyed during the Great Calamity 100 years ago.[2] After being exposed to the elements for so long, they have lost their mobility. Decayed Guardians appear inactive until Link approaches them, at which point they light up and aim their laser sights at him in preparation to fire.[2] They are prone to malfunctioning after being attacked, firing off several lasers in rapid succession.
A massive amount of Decayed Guardians can be found in the Forgotten Temple, having been placed there as guards by the ancient Sheikah 10,000 years ago.[3] They will all simultaneously take aim at Link the moment he enters the Temple.
If Link performs a Perfect Guard with any Shield on a Decayed Guardian's laser, it will instantly be defeated. Link can temporarily stun a Decayed Guardian by striking its eye with an Arrow. Using Stasis + on a charging up Decayed Guardian will also result in them being stunned, even if they were not hit during this time.
In Master Mode, Decayed Guardians will sometimes take slightly longer in their charge up phase before firing their laser, with the purpose of throwing off Link's timing.
