Fireproof Lizards can be found in the Scorching Climates of Hyrule, particularly Death Mountain and the nearby Eldin Canyon. They can be combined with Monster Parts in a Cooking Pot to make a Fireproof Elixir, which will provide Link with temporary Flame Guard when consumed.[1] However, if they are Cooked with other ingredients, the result will be Dubious Food. The Kochi Dye Shop also accepts Fireproof Lizards as an ingredient for Gray Dye.

If Link speaks to Kima at the Southern Mine, he explains that he is returning from Goron City and forgot to buy a souvenir.[4] He says that he wants some Fireproof Lizards and offers Link Fireproof Armor if he can catch 10.[5] This begins the "Fireproof Lizard Roundup" Side Quest. When Link brings the Fireproof Lizards, Kima will reward him with Flamebreaker Armor.[6][7] Afterwards, Link can deliver three Fireproof Lizards to Kima for 20 Rupees.[8]

Fireproof Lizards are required to upgrade the following pieces of Armor at a Great Fairy Fountain:
