Forest Ostrich
Forest Ostriches are Creatures in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Location and Uses
Forest Ostriches are Ostriches found on the Sky Islands.[2] It is thought that they historically roamed Hyrulean grasslands.[2] Due to their thick feathers, Forest Ostriches are resistant to Freezing Climates but vulnerable to overheating in areas with high Temperatures.[3] Ostriches are very alert of their surroundings, often scanning their surrounding area to look for predators while consuming Grass.[4] If they spot Link, they may either charge at him, removing one Heart from his Life Gauge, or simply flee.
In the Great Sky Island, Forest Ostriches are hunted by Soldier Constructs and Ranger Constructs.[5] When Link first speaks with one of the Ranger Constructs in the northwestern Forests of the Garden of Time, it explains to him that it has been tasked with hunting the Creatures in the Forest. According to the Construct, Forest Ostriches are extremely nutritious, though they are particularly wary of predators.[6] It advises Link to Crouch while sneaking up on them in order to not attract attention.[7] The Construct offers him a Old Wooden Bow and ten Arrows to practice hunting them, advising him to aim for their weak points to inflict Critical Hits.[8] If Link successfully kills one of the two Ostriches that the Ranger Construct is observing, it congratulates him before teaching him that their Meats can be eaten raw or Cooked.[9]
Unlike other Birds, Forest Ostriches drop one to two Raw Meats when slain. Ostriches killed using Fire- or Ice-based attacks will drop Seared Steaks or Icy Meats respectively.

A bow can be used to strike from afar. Aiming for weak spots is best. I will give you the bow placed over there. Use it as you please.

I see you took down your quarry. Very well done. You can eat ingredients obtained from your prey as is. Or you may prefer to cook them.
