Hrok
Hrok are Enemies in Skyward Sword.[1][2]
Characteristics
Hroks are large, green, stork-like birds with a dark, mohawk-like crest, a long, yellow beak, a pair of yellow, bulging eyes lined with many rings, a long neck with a yellow underside, a red throat sac that is capable of inflating, a pair of wings with yellow tips, and scruffy, dark tail feathers.
Hroks reside in the Lanayru Desert, spending their day roosting atop many of the region's dead Trees. They ingest rocks to absorb their minerals for nutrition, with the small stones they cannot fully digest being regurgitated as large boulders that they drop down to attack.[3] Upon sighting Link, they will take flight and begin pursuing him, dropping boulders on him if he is below them. The territory of Hroks covers a large distance, and they will continue to pursue Link even when he is far past their nest. He can avoid their attacks by staying outside of their shadows while they are airborne.
As Hroks fly high enough to stay out of reach of his Sword, Link must initially use the Beetle to drop a Bomb on them while they are roosting to defeat them. Once he obtains the Bow, he can also shoot them down with one shot. Hroks will always drop a Red Rupee when defeated.
Nomenclature
Hrok is likely derived from the Roc, a mythical bird of enormous size and strength. It may also come from "hork", meaning to vomit or cough up.

It also ingests minerals contained in rocks. The small stones it is not able to fully digest are collected in its throat, which it can then amalgamate and regurgitate as fully formed boulders.
