ArpagosThis name is derived from Dutch text. are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.(TWoGThe Wand of Gamelon)[1] Arpagos go unnamed in The Faces of Evil.

Characteristics

The Faces of Evil

In The Faces of Evil, Arpagos are airborne enemies that attack Link. As with most Enemies in The Faces of Evil and The Wand of Gamelon, they have a tendency of spawning frequently and in large flocks. The Bell can briefly freeze them when rung.

The Wand of Gamelon

Arpagos in The Wand of Gamelon retain their characteristics from The Faces of Evil, though they can now be frozen by the Flute. Princess Zelda can throw Bread from Harbanno at Arpagos to distract them for a short period of time. An Arpagos Egg can be found in the tower behind Mayor Cravendish's house in Sakado and can be given to Makoto in Kobitan in exchange for the Flute. The Arpagos Feather can be found in Gobiyan Ship, and is given to Myra in Hanyu Forest to combine with Zelda's Shroud to make the Magic Cloak.

Nomenclature

The name Arpogos may be derived from the ancient Greek word ἁρπάγη (harpágē), meaning "grip" or "snatch". This was the name of a weapon devised by Archimedes that was used during the Second Punic War.
