Frog
Frogs are a recurring species in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][name references needed]
Characteristics
A Link to the Past
In A Link to the Past, the missing Dwarven Swordsmith can be found in the Dark World transformed in a Frog-like creature due to the Dark World's magic.
Link's Awakening
In Link's Awakening, there is a Frog choir lead by Mamu that teaches Link the "Frog's Song of Soul" after paying 300 Rupees. There is also a Frog troupe inside Richard's Villa as a reference to the game Richard originated from, The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Ocarina of Time
In Ocarina of Time, the Fabulous Five Froggish Tenors is a group of singing Frogs found in the Zora's River. They reward Link with Rupees and Pieces of Heart for playing the Ocarina for them.
Majora's Mask
In Majora's Mask, the Frog Choir is a group of singing Frogs found all around Termina. Link must gather all five of them in the Mountain Village in order to conduct them using Don Gero's Mask. They will then reward him with a Piece of Heart.
The Wind Waker
In The Wind Waker, two Frog-like deties named Cyclos and Zephos teach Link the "Wind's Requiem" and the "Ballad of Gales". These songs let Link control the direction of the wind and Cyclones.
Twilight Princess
In Twilight Princess, three frogs can be found by the stream near Rusl and Uli’s house in Ordon Village. Wolf Link can speak to the frogs, and the first one tells him about sparkly patches on the ground. The second frog tells him to dig around for buried treasure or clues. The third frog just ribbits.[3] Wolf Link encounters another frog while carrying the wounded Midna to Princess Zelda. This frog directs Link to Telma's Bar, through which he can enter the Castle's Waterways.[3]
Phantom Hourglass
In Phantom Hourglass, six Golden Frogs appear in several locations throughout the World of the Ocean King. If Link hit them with a shot from the Cannon, they will show him a Cyclone Slate Symbol that can be drawn onto the Cyclone Slate to Warp via Cyclone to the location the symbol was learned.
Skyward Sword
In Skyward Sword, the Fire Sanctuary and the path leading up to it have ornate carvings of open-mouthed Frogs positioned over fire barriers. Their mouths must be filled with water to turn off the flames. Outside the Fire Sanctuary, the two small Frogs' thirst can be quenched with a Empty Bottle filled with water from a nearby pool, while the large frog requires a whole cauldron of water transported from Lake Floria. Inside the Fire Sanctuary, the water is derived from Water Fruit.
Breath of the Wild
Two species of Frog exist in Breath of the Wild. The first is the Hot-Footed Frog, which is known for its speed and can be Cooked to create a Hasty Elixir.[4] The second is the Tireless Frog, which can only be found during Rain.[5] It can also be Cooked to create an Enduring Elixir.[5] Both types of Frogs are most common on Hyrule Ridge and in the Lanayru Great Spring, and they will run away if they spot Link. To catch them, Link can chase after them, use Stealth to get close without being seen, or stun them with an Arrow or a Remote Bomb.
