Ergtoroks are Enemies in Spirit Tracks.[1] They are a form of Octive that live in the Sand Temple.

Characteristics

Ergtoroks attack in the same manner as Octives but are more intelligent when doing so. When Link attempts to reflect their attacks back at them, the strategy used to great success with their water-bore relatives, they retreat under the sand before the projectile makes contact with their body. To defeat them, Link must use the Sand Wand in their appropriate area once they begin to startle the Sand above them. The Sand Wand will create hard sand blocks which trap the Ergtoroks, making them dizzy and vulnerable to attack. In order to attack them, however, Link himself must get on top of the sand blocks created by the Sand Wand to reach the Ergtoroks.

Nomenclature

The name "Ergtorok" is possibly a portmanteau of erg and Octorok.
