Dunma is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4][5]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Dunma is a guard of Zora's Domain who wields a Zora Spear. She is the daughter of Rivan and the granddaughter of Trello.[6][7] Though she is offended when Link asks her age,[1] she will clarify that she is less than 100 years old.[8]
When Rivan gets carried away speaking to Link, Dunma will interrupt to remind him that they are on duty.[6] She later notes how excited Rivan was to see him.[9] Since it is their first time meeting, she introduce herself to Link.[10] If Link asks if she is female, Dunma comments on how observant he is.[11]
Dunma believes herself to be less formal than the Zora elders.[12] She explains to Link that Zora's Domain is looking for a Hylian and instructs him to meet with King Dorephan for more information.[13]
Link can ask Dunma about King Dorephan, who she reveals is the ruler of Zora's Domain and the father of Sidon and Mipha.[14] She gives him directions to the Throne Room and reminds him to mind his manners.[15] According to her, Sidon is very sociable and popular among the younger Zora.[16] However, this demeanor is not understood by the Zora elders.[17]
After Divine Beast Vah Ruta has been calmed, Dunma tells Link that it has been some time since Zora's Domain has seen the sun.[18] She wonders if the Divine Beast has stopped spouting water.[19] Once Link has received the Lightscale Trident, Dunma calls him no ordinary man and proclaims that he will always be welcome in Zora's Domain.[20]
Tears of the Kingdom
In Tears of the Kingdom, Dunma can be found on a rock next to Toto Lake keeping watch over Jiahto while he examines the Zora slate. When Link talks to her, she will remark that she wishes Jiahto would do his studies more carefully and will also tell Link about how Jiahto was sent there by Sidon.
Trivia
- Dunma is one of several characters that will hit Link back if he attacks them with a Weapon.[21][22][23] These attacks deal no damage.
