Not to be confused with Blue Chuchus or Yellow Chuchus.

Electric Chuchus are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Characteristics

Hyrule Compendium Entry
087 (087) Electric Chuchu
Description
This low-level gel monster is engulfed in electricity. Its strength varies depending on its size. It tends to explode if attacked from close range, so the use of spears, arrows, and other ranged weapons is advised.
Common Locations
Gerudo Highlands
East Necluda
Recoverable Materials
Yellow Chuchu Jelly

Electric Chuchus are a variation of Chuchu most commonly found in the Gerudo Desert and East Necluda. Electric Wizzrobes and Thunder Wizzrobes are also able to summon them.[4] They are known to have an aura of Electricity.[5] If Link touches or is attacked by an Electric Chuchu, he will be shocked. Electric Chuchus will emit an Electrical blast when they lunge towards Link, which can shock him if he is within range. Should Link have any metallic Weapons equipped, he will drop the Weapons and receive double the damage.

After releasing their shock, Electric Chuchus will temporarily enter a "powered-down" form, marked by a darker yellow color. During this period, they cannot release additional shocks and can be struck without Electrocuting Link. After a few seconds, Electric Chuchus will re-charge themselves and return to their electrified state. If they are defeated while in their powered-up state, they will explode in an electrified blast that will electrocute any vulnerable entities within its range.[5] As a result, the Hyrule Compendium recommends fighting them with ranged Weapons, such as Spears or Arrows.[5] Electric Chuchus will drop Yellow Chuchu Jellies upon being defeated.

Tears of the Kingdom

Electric Chuchus are a greenish-yellow variety of Chuchu imbued with Electricity.[6] Small, medium, and large Electric Chuchus are found throughout Hyrule, primarily in Faron, the Gerudo Desert, and both East and West Necluda. They also appear on the Thunderhead Isles in the Sky. Gloom-Wreathed Electric Chuchus of all three sizes can be found in the Depths. In addition, they can be summoned by Electric and Thunder Wizzrobes.[7] Electric Chuchus are immune to damage from Electrical sources, such as from Shock Emitters,

Due to being covered in Electricity, Electric Chuchus damage Link by electrocuting him when he touches them or attacks them with a metal Weapon. They can also electrocute the area around them in any body of Water they touch, damaging anything inside. They attack by jumping at their target, discharging a burst of Electricity when they land and then turning a darker shade of yellow with brown spots. In their inactive state, they will not attack and can be safely touched. Upon death, they explode in a burst of sparks that can damage other Enemies.[8]

If they go into Water that reaches up to their Eyes, they will spasm and then explode in a burst of Electricity. Concentrated Light from Dazzlefruits or Mirrors causes them to leap up into the air and temporarily lose their Electrical charge. While being exposed to this Light, their gel churns violently. Muddle Buds make them attack nearby Enemies, while Puffshrooms cause them to lose the ability to see Link.

Electric Chuchus drop Yellow Chuchu Jellies in varying amounts, based on their size. Electric Chuchus in the Depths drop Zonaite.

Other Appearances

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

The Giant variants reappear in the game through the Pulse of the Ancients DLC missions, attacking by rolling towards the player, slamming down, and releasing the small Electric Chuchus at the player.
