These classic white squid-like enemies are based on the Blooper from the Mario series. It should be noted that at the time Link's Awakening was made, they were still identified as "Bloobers" rather than their modern name, "Blooper", similar to Boo Buddy now being known as "Boo". As with their Mario counterparts, they move in diagonal, lurching motions towards Link, and commonly appear in pairs. They only appear in one passageway in the Catfish's Maw that leads to the Nightmare Key. Unlike their Mario counterparts, they can be dealt with easily using any weapon in Link's arsenal, with his Sword being most immediately effective.

Bloopers are Enemies in Link's Awakening.[1]

Characteristics

Bloopers are squid-like enemies that are encountered in an underwater passage of Catfish's Maw. Unlike Cheep Cheeps, which slowly swim back and forth in a set path, Bloopers move in diagonal, lurching motions towards Link, making them harder to avoid. Bloopers only appear in one passageway leading to the dungeon's Nightmare Key, and always appear in pairs. Unlike their Mario counterparts, they can be dealt with easily using any weapon in Link's arsenal, with the Sword being the most immediately effective.

In Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch Bloopers appear in the Fishing Hole and can be caught by Link while Fishing.

Trivia

 • Bloopers are directly based on the Blooper enemies from the Mario series.
