Bomb Soldiers are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1] They are a variation of the enemy Soldiers that throw Bombs at Link as their main form of attack. In some instances, their Bombs can be thrown back at them to attack.
Characteristics
A Link to the Past
In A Link to the Past, like other Soldiers, Bomb Soldiers are Hyrulean guards that have been brainwashed by Agahnim and are under his control. Bomb Soldiers situate themselves on the walls of Hyrule Castle, where they throw Bombs at intruders. As they remain stationary, they can easily be defeated if Link can quickly close the gap between him and his assailant. It is possible to throw the Bombs back at them to cause damage.
Four Swords Adventures
In Four Swords Adventures, two colored variations of the Bomb Soldier appear. The blue-colored Bomb Soldiers are the most common, whereas the green-colored Bomb Soldier is a stronger variety that appears in the Realm of the Heavens.
A Link Between Worlds
Bomb Soldiers in A Link Between Worlds are strongly based on their A Link to the Past incarnation. Like other enemy Soldiers, the Bomb Soldiers were originally Paintings that were painted by and brought to life by Yuga. Much like in A Link to the Past, Bomb Soldiers appear on the walls of Hyrule Castle, where they throw Bombs at Link from above. They also appear Inside Hyrule Castle as well, and toss Bombs from ledges. While Bomb Soldiers are still relatively stationary, they will try to move closer from their post to better aim at Link. They will also attempt to back away from Link if he comes close to them. As before, they can be easily defeated by closing in and striking back. Otherwise, Bombs can be thrown back at them or projectile weapons, such as Arrows, can be shot at them. They can also be stunned by a wide variety of other items rented from Ravio.
Tri Force Heroes
In Tri Force Heroes, Bomb Soldiers appear in the Fortress Area of the Drablands. They appear the same as in A Link Between Worlds, as they will actively make an effort at throwing Bombs at the Links and back away when they close in. In some instances, the Bomb Soldiers will throw Bombs from a ledge above or from over a gap, often requiring that the Links throw one Link over or form a Totem to reach the Soldier's level and attack. The Bombs they throw can also be used against them as well. In the final Stage of the Training Ground, a Bomb Soldier also appears riding a Totem Armos, and will actively pursue the Links while throwing Bombs.
In the Sky Realm, a golden variety called Sky Bomb Soldiers also appear. This variety is much stronger than the ordinary Bomb Soldiers, and take more hits to defeat.
