Radiant Shields are mid-grade Shields made by the Gerudo. They are presented to Gerudo warriors once they achieve the rank of captain, and they are considered to be a direct upgrade to Gerudo Shields.[1] This is seen with Teake, the captain of the Gerudo guard, who carries one on her back. In addition, they are also known for their incredible Shield Surfing abilities.[citation needed] Their opulence is rivaled only by their capabilities in combat.[1] They belong to the Gerudo Gear equipment archetype, a series of Weapons created and utilized by the Gerudo.[3]

There are four Radiant Shields scattered throughout Hyrule Kingdom, with a fifth added in Master Mode.[where?] One can be found inside the secret cave in the mountain east of the Sho Dantu Shrine, along with other pieces of Gerudo Gear.

When scanned with the amiibo Rune, the following amiibo have a chance to spawn a Treasure Chest containing a Radiant Shield:

Selmie will comment on Radiant Shields if Link speaks to her with one equipped. She reveals that they are very rare, and she practically never sees them anymore.[4] Unlike other shields, the Radiant Shield can Shield Surf on stone.

Due to their metal compositions, Radiant Shields will conduct Electricity and attract Lightning if they are equipped during Thunderstorms. They also sink if they are dropped in Water. However, they can be manipulated with the Magnesis Rune, and they will not burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate.
