Though they were once regular Hearty Truffles, being left unpicked for years and has caused them to grow larger.[1] They can be found growing at the base of trees in the Hebra Mountains and the Great Hyrule Forest.

Like all hearty-type foods, Big Hearty Truffles can be Cooked in a Cooking Pot to restore Link's Life Gauge and increase his maximum health, though it increases the heart count more than a regular Hearty Truffle.[1] It can be eaten for three Hearts, more than the normal Hearty Truffle. Big Hearty Truffles exposed to Fire become Toasted Big Hearty Truffles. They can be used at the Kochi Dye Shop to create Black Dye.
