Biography

Osfala is a character in A Link Between Worlds. He is a headstrong young man and Sahasrahla's apprentice. Link first meets Osfala outside The Eastern Palace, when Link tells him he is in danger he believes he will be fine because he is a descendant of the sages and is "as every bit as powerful as they were." He also has Ravio's Sand Rod. When Osfala enters the Eastern Palace Link hears a scream. When the end of the dungeon is reached, he is turned into a painting by Yuga because he is one of the sages. Later Link discovers his painting in Thieves' Town, he is shown it by the Thief Girl after Link defeats Stalbind inside the Thieves' Hideout. When Osfala appears in the Chamber of Sages he is surprised because he believed he would be the Hero of the Age. Even though he is disappointed, he wishes Link good luck for the rest of his quest. He then has the Sand Rod returned to Ravio's Shop, where Link can now rent or buy it.

Theory

Ancestry

Osfala's design appears to be based on that of Impa from Ocarina of Time; tall with white hair, tied up in a ponytail. His painting is found in Thieves' Town, the Lorule counterpart of Kakariko Village (which is, incidentally, where he lives with Sahasrahla). Since Impa was the founder of Kakariko Village, and the Sage of Shadow during the Era of the Hero of Time, it is possible that he is a descendant of hers. However, this theory is easily disputed by the existence of Impa's successor, who is also one of the Seven Sages. It is also possible that he is descended from Rauru, being that his robes are yellow and no other Sage appears to be the Sage of Light.
