The Temple of Light is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.^{(OoTOcarina of Time | OoT3DOcarina of Time 3D)}^[1] The Temple of Light goes unnamed in A Link Between Worlds.

Ocarina of Time

The Temple of Light is located at the heart of the Sacred Realm. Its earliest known appearance follows the Battle for the Sacred Realm near the end of the Era of Chaos.^[1] The Sage of Light, Rauru, secreted the Triforce away within the Temple of Light in order to prevent its misuse.^[1] He then sealed the entrance to the Sacred Realm by constructing the Temple of Time in Hyrule, ensuring the Temple of Light would remain undisturbed.^[1]

Ages later in the Era of the Hero of Time, Princess Zelda tasks Link with retrieving the Spiritual Stones to protect the Triforce from Ganondorf.^[2] These Spiritual Stones, alongside the "Song of Time", serve as the keys to the Door of Time that protect the Master Sword in the Pedestal of Time.^[1]^[3] The Master Sword is itself the key to the entrance to the Sacred Realm.^[3] Due to the Master Sword's ability to repel evil and the Spiritual Stones being entrusted to various peoples who swore fealty to the Royal Family of Hyrule, it was intended to prevent anyone other than the destined Hero of Time from entering the Sacred Realm.^[3]^[4]

Despite the fail-safes intended to protect the Triforce, Ganondorf is able to outwit Link and Zelda. He quietly shadows Link as the young Hero of Time retrieves the Master Sword and opens the entrance to the Sacred Realm.^[3] While Link is placed into a deep slumber to prepare his body to wield the Sword, Ganondorf sneaks into the Temple of Light and lays his hand on the Triforce.^[5]^[3] However, because of his imbalanced heart, the Triforce splits and Ganondorf is only able to obtain the Triforce of Power while the Triforce of Courage is granted to the slumbering Link.^[3]

After seven years of rest under Rauru's protection, Link awakens in the Chamber of Sages within the Temple of Light.^[6]^[7] Here Rauru greets him and explains the circumstances behind his slumber and the state of the world in his absence.^[6] Though Link was kept from Ganondorf's reach in the Chamber of Sages, Rauru explains that he must return to Hyrule to awaken the five other Sages in order to seal Ganondorf's evil power within the void of the Sacred Realm.^[6] As Link awakens these Sages, they each appear in the Chamber of Sages and present him with a Medallion that carries their power.^[8] Following Link's decisive blow to Ganon, Zelda instructs the Sages to pray to the Golden Goddesses from within the Chamber of Sages.^[9] Thanks to their efforts, they successfully seal him alongside his Triforce of Power in the Sacred Realm, which has since been transformed into the Evil Realm.

A Link Between Worlds

Link visits the Chamber of Sages after rescuing each of the seven Sages from the Paintings that Yuga used to trap them. Once all seven Sages are present, they reveal the Triforce of Courage to Link and create a staircase inside the chamber so that he can reach it. The Sages remain in the Chamber of Sages until the Triforce is returned to Hyrule.
