Aya
Aya is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[3]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Aya is a Stable Worker at the East Akkala Stable. She sits on a stool under the Tree next to a Blue Flame Pedestal at all hours of the day. When spoken to, she will seem depressed.[4] If Link asks her what is wrong, she quietly mutters about the Blue Flame.[5] Upon questioning, she will explain that her life has been dull since she got married, and she previously used to pass the time by staring at the Blue Flame.[2] However, she reveals that the director of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, Robbie, has not lit the Blue Flame Pedestals in a while.[6]
Link can offer to relight the Blue Flame, at which point Aya asks if he can retrieve it in under three minutes.[7] This initiates the Restoring the Blue Flame Mini-Game, in which Aya will charge Link 20 Rupees as a Horse-handling fee.[8] She does this because she does not see how else he could complete the challenge within the time limit.[9] She also makes a joke before sending Link out, pretending to count down and then telling Link this is what she will say before he leaves.[10] If Link returns the Blue Flame, Aya will be excited and give him a Purple Rupee as a reward.[11]
The next time the Blue Flame goes out, Aya will ask Link to bring it back in one minute.[12] After this is done, Aya will reward Link with a Silver Rupee. When the Blue Flame goes out a third time, Aya asks Link to relight the Blue Flame Pedestal in less than twenty seconds.[13] The reward for doing this is a Gold Rupee. On subsequent visits, however, she will only be able to give Link 20 Rupees.[14]
If the Blue Flame is extinguished while it is Raining, Aya will remark that Link should not retrieve it due to the poor weather.[15]
Aya is happier while the Blue Flame is lit. She asks Link if there is anything as pretty as the Blue Flame, but she does not think there is.[16] She also finds the Blue Flame to be soothing, and wants to know if Link thinks the same.[17] In addition, she will warn Link against putting it out,[18] grumbling angrily if he does so.[19]

Oh, sorry! Guess I was daydreaming. Life has been so dull since I married into this family. I used to pass the time by staring at the lantern's blue flame...

But the director at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab hasn't lit the fire in so long.
— Aya (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[I'll light it for you.] You? Hmm... That's one possibility, I guess. How fast can you do it? Do you think you can bring the blue flame to this lantern in under three minutes?
— Aya (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Great! But I'll be taking 20 rupees as a horse-handling fee.
— Aya (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Well, you're going to use a horse, right? I don't see any other way to do it that fast. So yeah, 20 rupees.
— Aya (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Alrighty... On your mark...get set... Three... Two... One... Go! See, I'll say that, and then you'll start.
— Aya (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Unbelievable! It's back! The blue flame is really back! I really ought to do something to thank you, huh?

You can try anyway, but the reward is still the same 20 rupees.

The weather's pretty lousy, though, so maybe not.

Is there anything in all the world as pretty as the blue flame? I'm thinking...no?

*sigh...* Good old blue flame. It's so soothing to stare at, don't you think?

Don't put it out!

I told you not to put it out...
