Golden Snails are Items in Twilight Princess.[name references needed]

Location and Uses

The two Golden Snails—one male and one female—are one of the twelve pairs of Golden Bugs found throughout Hyrule. Both are found in the same location within the Sacred Grove, but separated by timelines. The male Snail is found in an alcove with a ruined stairway in the southeastSouthwest in the Wii version. corner of the Chamber of Stone, and can be collected once Link is returned to his human form by obtaining the Master Sword. Later in his adventure, Link returns to the Sacred Grove and steps through the Door of Time, emerging in the distant past when the Temple of Time still stood. Here, he can find the female Snail on a wall just outside the same alcove.

The Golden Snails can be given to Agitha in exchange for Rupees (50 for the first, 100 for the second) or, depending on the total number of Golden Bugs given, the Big Wallet, the Giant Wallet, or Agitha's Miiverse Stamp in Twilight Princess HD. After being collected, a Golden Snail will reappear in its original spot; if collected a second time, it will drop a Heart as Link lets it go.[1]

Trivia

  • The Collection Screen description for the male and female Golden Snails mention that possibility that they might actually be the opposite sex.[2] This is a reference to the fact that many snails are hermaphrodites, which have both male and female reproductive systems. In the French localization of the game, the description refers to the Snail as "A golden-bodied ♂♀ snail.Un escargot♂♀ au corps doré.", while no sex is even mentioned when the Snail is collected.[3]
