Kodongos are recurring Enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[2] They are small reptilians with an appearance similar to a rhino or triceratops, much like a Dodongo.
Characteristics
Main articles: Green Kodongo and Red Kodongo
Kodongos often appear behind low barriers, where they walk back and forth, occasionally breathing bursts of three fireballs. These fireballs can reach past the barriers and will burst into flame upon impact, so Kodongos can temporarily block off short passageways with their flames. Because of this, it can be difficult for Link to hit Kodongos. However, Kodongos themselves are rather weak and can be defeated with a single Sword strike, although they are invulnerable to attacks from other Weapons like the Boomerang. According to the description of Kodongo Tails in Tri Force Heroes, Kodongos are able to regrow their tails over time.[3]
A Link to the Past
Red Kodongos appear at the Tower of Hera, and Green Kodongos appear in the Palace of Darkness in the Dark World, where they can be found in a pitch black maze-like room. This makes their attacks more difficult to avoid, but Green Kodongos are no stronger than red ones. Red Kodongos move faster than their green counterparts.
A Link Between Worlds
Red Kodongos appear in Lorule's Dark Palace, and Green Kodongos appear on Turtle Rock.[verification needed] Both types of Kodongo appear in the Treacherous Tower Mini-Game.
Tri Force Heroes
Red Kodongos can be found on the Blazing Trail during Stage 4. Meanwhile, Green Kodongos can be found during Stage 2 of the Sky Temple. Their tails can be obtained as a Material for completing certain Drablands Challengees.
