Prior to the second Great Calamity, Zelda visited the Flight Range in search of Revali, seeking to appoint him as the Rito Champion and pilot of Divine Beast Vah Medoh. The Flight Range,(BotW | TotK | HWAoC)[1][2][3] also known as the Rito Flight Range,(BotW)[4] is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Flight Range is a Rito training ground located at the end of Dronoc's Pass in the Hebra Mountains.[5] Rito warriors use the Flight Range to prepare for aerial battles due to its consistent Updrafts.[6][7] As such, the Range features a number of Targets, as well as a hut containing a Cooking Pot and a good amount of Rito Gear. The bottom of the Range is covered in a pool of Water. Since it exists within a Freezing Climate, Link requires at least two levels of Cold Resistance to visit the Flight Range without taking damage.

100 years ago, the Flight Range was built at Revali's request as a reward for winning an archery tournament, since he required training grounds to improve his skills at.[5][8] When the Rito children expressed interest in training there too, Revali decided to open the Flight Range to the public, hoping it would nurture the next generation of warriors.[9][7]

Princess Zelda and Revali at the Flight Range

Prior to the second Great Calamity, Zelda visited the Flight Range in search of Revali, seeking to appoint him as a Champion and pilot of Divine Beast Vah Medoh.[10] There, she witnesses Revali practicing his Gale, but he gets caught up in the whirlwind and is thrown back to the ground. After noticing Zelda, Revali officially accepts her offer.[11] He then attempts his Gale once more, this time successfully launching himself off of the ground and destroying all of the Flight Range's Targets with Bomb Arrows. Landing by the hut, Revali asserts that he will play the biggest role in helping seal Calamity Ganon, and he says not to come crying to him if Link loses his confidence after seeing his skills.[12] These events can be seen as part of the "Champion Revali's Song" EX Recovered Memory that appears during the "EX Champion Revali's Song" Main Quest, which is exclusive to The Champions' Ballad Downloadable Content Pack.

After failing to defeat Divine Beast Vah Medoh when it reactivated, the Rito warrior Teba fell back to the Flight Range to prepare for another attack.[6] When Link arrives at the Flight Range during the "Divine Beast Vah Medoh" Main Quest, he will find Teba working on a Falcon Bow. Though Teba is initially distrusting of Link,[13] he eventually accepts his help.[14] However, he first needs to test Link by having him destroy five of the Flight Range's Targets within three minutes.[15] When Link completes the Flight Range, Teba commends his skills.[16] To help Link against the Divine Beast, Teba directs him to a stone Treasure Chest on the landing, which contains a Falcon Bow that he was modifying.[17] Teba also gifts Link a bundle of 20 Bomb Arrows to use on the Cannons.[18]

Following the fight against Divine Beast Vah Medoh, Teba will retreat to the Flight Range to deal with his injured leg.[19] If Link visits the Flight Range before appeasing Vah Medoh, Teba will express his frustration that he got hurt after he was so close to defeating the Divine Beast.[20]

Once Link receives the Great Eagle Bow, Teba will take his son, Tulin, to practice at the Flight Range.[21] While there, he will ask Link to demonstrate his archery skills for Tulin.[22] Tulin also asks Link to show him his skills as part of the Flight Range Mini-Game, challenging Link to destroy as many Targets as he can in a limited amount of time.[23][24]

During the "EX Champion Revali's Song" Main Quest, the Targets at the Flight Range start to glow with the Crest of the Sheikah. As part of the Divine Beast Tamer's Trial, Link must shoots four of these Targets.[25] Doing so causes Noe Rajee Shrine to emerge from the ground at the bottom of the Flight Range.

A total of two Treasure Chests are hidden at the Flight Range. Both are made of metal and are submerged in the Water at the bottom of the Range, though Link can use Magnesis to pull them to the surface. These Chests contain a Knight's Broadsword and a Gold Rupee.

BotW Korok Seed Icon.png

One Korok Seed Puzzle can be found at the Flight Range. It takes the form of a group of Leaves with Fairy Dust on the roof of the Range's hut. When Link examines the Leaves, a Korok will appear and give him a Korok Seed as a reward.[26]

It's a place where Rito warriors prepare for aerial combat... I imagine he's gone there to gather weapons for another run at Medoh. As it happens, he made his way to the Flight Range on foot this time." — Saki (Breath of the Wild)

 8. "I won another archery competition today. As one would expect, the village can't stop talking about my winning streak. In short order, I've managed to break all of the previous records and set an insurmountably high bar. Everywhere I go I receive praise and affirmations that I am the pride of the Rito. I...could get used to this. The elder asked me what I would like as a prize for my achievements. I told him I wish for an archery training ground. If I am to keep this up, I need somewhere to train at various elevations. I'm hoping to master a new move I've dreamed up..." — The Diary of Revali (Breath of the Wild)

You'll have to maneuver through the air and destroy five of the targets set up in this valley in three minutes." — Teba (Breath of the Wild)
 16. "You're...a skilled archer. It was as if time stopped with every arrow you let fly. I've got to tell you, Link... When you first showed up, I thought someone was pulling a prank on me. 17. "Well, if you really want to help me bring down Medoh, it's now or never. I'll get you into position so you can give its cannons all you've got. Inside that treasure chest is a bow I've modified. Take it, and let me know when you're ready." — Teba (Breath of the Wild)
 18. "OK, it's time to face Divine Beast Vah Medoh. Normal arrows won't put a dent in those cannons. You'll need to hit them with bomb arrows. These are a precious commodity, so don't expect me to do this again, but...take these bomb arrows." — Teba (Breath of the Wild)
