Spirit Gem

Template:Item Spirit Gems are items that are hidden in Phantom Hourglass that can be found by opening chests, solving puzzles, purchasing, checking the mail, or completing a certain event. There are three in total: Power, Wisdom, and Courage, and each has a different effect depending on which Servant Spirit is equipped, and of those there are 20 total gems of each version to collect over the expanse of the World of the Ocean King.

For the gems to have any effect, they must first be taken to Spirit Island.

Enhancement and Skill Upgrades

When Link collects 10 of a certain gem version, he sees an ability enhancement on the part of his sword or in his physical skill set, however, upon collecting all 20, Link is upgraded with the full extent of the Servant Spirits' power.

Power Gem

For the Spirit of Power, securing 10 gems ignites Link's sword and doubles its attack power. Getting all 20 quadruples the amount of such power. Hitting a Phantom or Reapling from behind with Oshus's Sword with the Spirit of Power equipped will stun it. Enemies such as Bubbles, Phantom Eyes and Fire Keese can be killed directly with the sword and no longer need to be stunned first.

7	Isle of Ember	Given by Astrid after beating the Temple of Fire.
8	Cannon Island	Behind a rocky wall in the southwestern cave.
9	Molida Island	Inside the cavern behind Romano's house. Requires the Grappling Hook.
10	Spirit Island	In a chest southeast of the isle. Requires the Grappling Hook.
11	Isle of Gust	Inside a chest lying in a high southwestern spot.
12	Temple of Wind	West of the giant sandworm room.
13	Bannan Island	Very close to the dock. But requires the Grappling Hook.
14	Temple of Courage	Behind a wall between two stone letters in floor one.
15	Temple of Courage	Inside a chest after shooting two eye switches in the room with several mobile platforms.
16	Goron Temple	Inside a chest located in the northeastern maze.
17	Isle of Frost	Inside a chest in a very high spot in the main Yook area. Can only be reached through a path from the entrance to the Temple of Ice.
18	Isle of the Dead	In a room right after entering the secret hole south of the island's "mouth".
19	Isle of Ruins	Northeast of the southwestern maze.
20	Any postbox	Given by King Mutoh some time after beating his temple.

Wisdom Gem

For the Spirit of Wisdom, obtaining 10 gems doubles Link's defense. Also, the Shield will be upgraded, able to block more powerful attacks and able to stun weaker enemies by simply walking into them. Getting all 20 quadruples the defense ratio. If hit by a Phantom, less time will be lost from the Phantom Hourglass if the Spirit of Wisdom is equipped - instead of 30 seconds, it will be 15 seconds with 10 gems, or only 5 seconds with all 20.

6	Molida Island	Right after going past the Sun Key gate and exiting the cave, a hole can be seen. By digging there with the shovel, a chest with the gem can be found.
7	Isle of Gust	Inside the first cavern.
8	Zauz's Island	In a high spot east of Zauz's house. Either a Cucco or the Grappling Hook is necessary.
9	Bannan Island	Given by Joanne after giving her in turn the letter that was destined to her from Jolene.
10	Any postbox	Given by Salvatore after playing the Cannon Game at least once.
11	Temple of Courage	After the area with the multiple mobile platforms, and near the entrance to the highest floor, there is an Arrow Orb. The chest with the gem appears after pressing an eye switch by making the orb point north.
12	Goron Island	Given by Biggoron after the quiz game.
13	Isle of Frost	In a chest west of the Anouki Estates.
14	Temple of Ice	Inside a chest after pressing an eye switch in the first basement floor.
15	Temple of Ice	In a chest west of floor three. Requires a switch being pressed.
16	Any postbox	Given by Aroo after beating the Temple of Ice.
17	Maze Island	Won by beating the maze race in Beginner mode.
18	Maze Island	Inside a chest not too far from the prizes' spot.
19	Isle of Ruins	In a chest next to an area with boulders. Water has to lower its level first.
20	Isle of Ruins	After water lowers its level, a cave northeast with a chest having this gem can be accessed.

Courage Gem

For the Spirit of Courage, getting 10 gems powers Link's sword with the Sword Beam technique. Getting 20 doubles the width of said beam. This has no known effect on the Phantoms or Reaplings.

7	Molida Island	In a spot west of the entrance to the Temple of Courage. Requires the Grappling Hook.
8	Spirit Island	Next to the dock area.
9	Isle of Gust	Inside a cave blocked by a bombable wall.
10	Temple of Wind	In a windy area southeast of the basement floor.
11	Bannan Island	North of Salvatore. Requires the Grappling Hook.
12	Uncharted Island	Inside a chest in the first room of Cylos's lair. Requires the Grappling Hook.
13	Temple of Courage	Behind a bombable wall in the room right before the boss area.
14	Goron Island	In a high spot near the Goron having trouble with a Yellow ChuChu. Requires the Grappling Hook.
15	Any postbox	Given by Gongoron after beating the Goron Temple.
16	Dee Ess Island	Found by digging around the southwestern corner of the island's "Touch Screen".
17	Dee Ess Island	Gained after defeating various enemies withing the "Upper Screen".
18	Isle of the Dead	At the end of the Rupoor maze.
19	Isle of Ruins	East of the island after the water lowers its level.
20	Mutoh's Temple	In the room with the tile swap puzzles.

Trivia

• The central orb of each Spirit Gem resembles the respective Goddess Pearl from the The Wind Waker, both in design and color.
