"Critical Decisions" is a Memory in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Overview
At the end of the "Guidance from Ages Past" Main Quest, Mineru reveals to Link that following the Imprisoning War, Zelda came to her with the Decayed Master Sword.[2] This starts the "Critical Decisions" Memory.
Mineru asks Zelda if the Decayed Master Sword traveled through time as she did.[3] Zelda confirms this, revealing that Demon King Ganondorf appeared to be weak to even a shard of the original Master Sword.[4] Mineru notes that it must be his weakness, and she asks Zelda what they should do with it.[5] Zelda recalls that the Decayed Master Sword can heal itself and grow stronger if exposed to sacred Light, and Mineru realizes that by empowering it, they could be able to permanently defeat the Demon King.[6]
Compared to the power of Demon King Ganondorf, Mineru thinks it could take centuries to replenish the Master Sword's power to the point it could face him, and she is unsure how Zelda could care for it for so long.[7] Bringing a hand to her Secret Stone, Zelda reveals that she has thought of a way to do so.[8] Mineru stands from her chair as realizes that she is referring to draconification, and Zelda insists that she must go through with it.[9] Mineru tries to argue against it, but she is cut off by a coughing fit due to her weakness.[10]
Out of concern, Zelda helps Mineru return to her seat.[11] Mineru reminds Zelda that there is no way to undo draconification, but Zelda claims that restoring the Master Sword for Link is the reason she was sent into the Era of Myth.[12] Resigning herself, Mineru asks Zelda if she is certain,[13] which she confirms with a nod. As a Zonai, Mineru feels guilty for allowing Demon King Ganondorf to come to power, so she decides to help Zelda prepare for Link.[14] She vows to stay with Zelda in Spirit should her body perish.[15] Following this, the Memory will end.
