"A Show of Fealty" is a Memory in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

Link can witness "A Show of Fealty" by locating the Dragon's Tear hidden within the Geoglyph on the side of Sapphia's Table. This Memory must be found as part of "The Dragon's Tears" Main Quest.

In the castle, Ganondorf bows to Rauru and Sonia. He apologizes for how long it has taken the Gerudo to accept their invitations, and expresses that he and his people wish to become part of Hyrule.[2] Rauru accepts his fealty, expressing how reassured he is to have the loyalty of the only male Gerudo.[3] While Rauru talks, Ganondorf's focus appears to be on the Secret Stones held by the Royal Family of Hyrule, especially Sonia's. Ganondorf compares Rauru to the ancient Zonai, claiming that he has surpassed their legacy by becoming the King of Hyrule.[4]

Ganondorf then notes that, aside from Rauru and his sister Mineru, the Zonai have completely disappeared.[5] Rauru insists that even if he is gone, Hyrule and its peace will continue to survive.[6] He then thanks Ganondorf for his vow and dismisses him.[7] Ganondorf acknowledges this, and he and his Gerudo warriors leave.[8]

Once the Gerudo are gone, Zelda voices her concerns to Rauru, revealing that even his name is suspicious to her.[9] Rauru states that he is aware of Ganondorf's motives, but he wants to keep him close in order to keep him in check.[10] He assures Zelda there is nothing to worry about, which she accepts.[11] Following this interaction, the Memory will end.

Trivia

  • Ganondorf's false vow of fealty to Hyrule resembles the vow he made to the King of Hyrule from Ocarina of Time, which Princess Zelda is also unsure of.[12] Unlike in Tears of the Kingdom, the King of Hyrule does not believe Princess Zelda's suspicions.[13]
  • Two green-skinned Gerudo women can be seen behind Ganondorf that resemble Kotake and Koume. Their names are written on their sashes with the version of Hylian from Ocarina of Time, where Kotake and Koume made their debut.
