Breath of the Wild

Star Fragments fall from the sky during the night and disappear at 5:00 AM the following day. They will also disappear instantly if they land in any body of water.[citation needed] When used in a Cooking Pot, Star Fragments will guarantee bonus effects from the meal being made. Alternatively, they can be used at the Kochi Dye Shop to make White Dye.

Star Fragments are used in several armor upgrades at Great Fairy Fountains. For each piece of the Ancient Soldier Gear, one Star Fragment and two Giant Ancient Cores are needed to upgrade it to its fourth tier. The pieces of the Hero Set, Hero of the Sky Set, Hero of Twilight Set, Hero of Time Set, and Hero of Winds Set all require a Star Fragment and various minerals at each tier. The pieces of the Hero of the Wild Set each need one Star Fragment, in addition to either two Shards of Farosh's Horn, two Shards of Naydra's Horn, or two Shards of Dinraal's Horn to upgrade to its final tier. One is also needed to upgrade a Diamond Circlet, a Ruby Circlet, a Sapphire Circlet, and Topaz Earrings to their third and fourth tiers.
