Hidden Chests, also known as EX Chests, are Objects in Breath of the Wild. They were added in the Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass.

Location and Uses

Hidden Chests are special Treasure Chests that are made available by purchasing Downloadable Content. With paid Downloadable Content installed, Hidden Chests will appear throughout Hyrule Kingdom. They resemble Metal Chests but with purple bodies and the English letters "EX" on their faces. An identical type of Treasure Chest known as Bonus Chests can also be found as rewards for purchasing the Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass.

There are 21 total Hidden Chests scattered throughout Hyrule Kingdom, 13 of which are found embedded in the ground, three of which are found underwater, and five of which sit in the open. Hidden Chests all contain unique Items such as exclusive Armor. All such Hidden Chests are subject of one of 12 Side Quests—six added in The Master Trials, and six in The Champions' Ballad.

Because Hidden Chests are metallic, they can conduct Electricity and may attract Lightning. They can be manipulated using the Magnesis and Stasis Runes. Both the Camera Rune and the Sheikah Sensor + functions of the Sheikah Slate treat Hidden Chests like any other Treasure Chest.
